Dr. Susan T. Lance was motivated to be a dentist through her own experience as a youngster growing up in Edgerton, Ohio. After wearing braces, she was fascinated by the changes that took place in her smile and wanted to be able to give that to others.

Dr. Lance earned a B.A. in Zoology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, graduating cum laude and her DDS from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. She came to North Carolina for her hospital residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte NC, where, coincidentally, her beau (whom she married) was completing his residency in Chapel Hill. She worked as an associate in a Havelock practice for eight years and treated some of our country's bravest and their families at Camp Lejeune.

She enjoys cooking, baking and reading fiction when she's not involved with PTO, Cub Scouts and dance lessons. ("I'm not the student, just the driver!" ) Now her three children with her husband Dr. John Lance are school-aged, she has returned to private practice. She is a member of the American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society and the 5th District Dental Society.  She believes that anything worth doing should be done well and she to this day gets great joy from the smiles her patients give themselves in the mirror.
